Gloucester Lottery has successfully raised £200,000 for local charities and good causes.

The lottery supports local charities and good causes such as the South Western Ambulance Charity, the Hollie Gazzard Trust and Gloucester Foodbank.

Players buy a weekly ticket for £1 from which 50p goes to the cause they nominate, and 10p goes into a pot that groups can bid for, with ideas that bring the community together.

Drawn every Saturday night, those whose numbers come up can receive a range of prizes from extra tickets right up to the £25,000 jackpot.

In March, one lucky Gloucester resident hit the jackpot after winning £25,000, the highest amount ever paid out by the lottery run by Gloucester City Council.

Shortly after a second lucky player scooped a £2,000 prize.

Councillor Raymond Padilla, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods at Gloucester City Council, said: "I'm delighted that the lottery has helped to support so many of our charities who do such fantastic work. I hope many more people will be encouraged to play, not only to be in with the chance of winning some great prizes but also to help our local good causes."

If you want to play the lottery but don't have a charity in mind, your donation can go to the central pot to fund new community projects through Your Gloucester small grants.
