A director of a global company based in Gloucester has been made chairman of one of the largest representative bodies in the UK.
Colin Findlay, a Director of Severn Glocon Group has been appointed chairman of the British Valve & Actuator Association (BVAA), which is the industry voice representing UK valve manufacturers, core supply chain partners and distributor organisations to end users across the globe.
Established for nearly 80 years, BVAA has over 200 members and plays an important role in developing engineering standards in the Industry.
Severn Glocon's head office is in Quedgeley and it has offices and manufacturing centres across the world.
The role of the chairman of BVAA is to run the supervisory board made up of 10 directors who represent the members, and also lead the activity of the association, ensuring that it provides value to its members and is active in representing the valve industry where necessary.
Colin said: "It is a great honour to be elected to the chairman's post. As a board member for the past four years, I have seen the value that the BVAA brings to its members, through market intelligence, training, exhibition opportunities and technical support. In particular, the BVAA links the larger manufacturing members to the supply networks who specialise in valve expertise. I am particularly proud of the success of the Future Leaders programme that I introduced to provide a network and development framework for the very best people that the industry has to offer. I am looking forward to continuing the successful work of the BVAA team."
