Gloucester companies race their way towards charity target

Gloucestershire sister companies Window Widgets and The Residence Collection have raised more than £2.2K at a charity race day.

Staff from both firms were among a crowd of 400 who attended the Glass Times Race Day at Haydock. It returned this month after two events were cancelled last year due to Covid.

Window Widgets has a £21,000 fundraising target which it set to mark its 21st birthday last year and will be split between We Mind & Kelly Matters, a suicide prevention charity based in Wellingborough and GM Fundraising, a Wolverhampton-based charity which supports Hope House Children's Hospices.

To boost funds it sponsored the raffle at the race day alongside The Residence Collection and had a number of prizes on offer. In total, they raised £2,249.60.

The race day has been running for 15 years and is a chance to socialise with other members of the fenestration trade - the design of windows and doors in a building.

This month's event was the first big event for the industry following the lifting of the lockdown restrictions.

Jo Trotman, marketing manager at Window Widgets and The Residence Collection, said: "It was a fantastic day at Glass Times Race Day and the team who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

"It was fantastic to see such a great turn out and connect with so many other people within our industry. Most importantly, we're thrilled that we raised more money to add to our fundraising target for We Mind & Kelly Matters and GM Fundraising and we thank everyone who contributed to these two great causes."

Window Widgets began in 2000 and became the largest range of universal ancillaries for the fenestration trade

In 2012, it launched window system Residence 9 and today it forms part of The Residence Collection which makes design-led PVCu window and door systems.

Both companies are based in Quedgeley West Business Park.

Earlier this year it acquired Kettering company Profoil Limited and formed the Q19 Group.

So far £12,760 has been raised towards the 21st birthday goal and Window Widgets recently published a Pink Book Of Jokes sponsored by organisations in the industry to help reach the target.

It hopes to raise more at a second event, Epsom Race Down, set to return on September 9.

It will be sponsored by The Residence Collection and both Gloucestershire brands will sponsor the raffle and provide prizes.
