Glasses raised as Gloucestershire brewery wins national award

Gloucestershire-based Hillside Brewery is celebrating after being named 'Best Rural Drinks Producer' at the Rural Business Awards national final.

The finalists were the best of the best, hand-picked by industry experts, and whittled down to the final six.

This prestigious event was set up in 2015 and aims to give recognition to businesses operating right across the rural sector, to acknowledge the breadth and depth of opportunity presented by the Great British countryside.

It also celebrates the achievements of our rural businesses, from engineering through to artisan food producers and professional services organisations.

Since launching in 2014, Hillside Brewery, based near Longhope, has gone through a positive growth of the business. Many of their range of beers (which currently consists of seven beers and one lager) have won awards of their own and the range of diverse events put on at the brewery has become a real hub for the local community.

The beer is the baby and at the centre of what they do. While it is a key part of what they do, they also appreciate that not everyone likes beer, so have a fully stocked bar and make sure all of their experiences are as engaging as possible.

They host events from beer festivals, opera and on-site activities such as archery tag (like a combination of archery and dodge ball).

HIllside's delighted managing director Paul Williamson said: "Thank you for all of your support over the past few years, without you we couldn't continue to brew our delicious beers and host our great events."
