Giant one-off pop-up dress shop to appear in Cheltenham

An incredible 738 dresses have been collected by Cheltenham-based mum and solicitor Anna Wood to raise money for a much-loved Gloucestershire charity.

Ms Wood, who juggles being mum to her three-year-old son while working full time at BPE Solicitors LLP (not to mention being heavily pregnant) is the driving force behind 401Dresses.

All funds from the, being held at the Lansdown Bar in Cheltenham, will go to Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Support Network .

The 401Dresses event, being held at the Lansdown Bar in Cheltenham will see hundreds of pre-loved dresses put up for sale on Sunday 20th May with the hope of them finding new owners and helping a great cause.

Anna, who works for Cheltenham-headquartered BPE, said she and volunteers from GBSN  had been overwhelmed by the generosity of those who had donated.

"The dresses will be on sale between 11am and 4pm on the day and there will be a huge range of styles, brands and sizes (adult only), including maternity wear," she said.

"Prices will range from £5 to £50 so you could really grab yourself a bargain, especially as some of the donated dresses still have original tags on them! Everyone is welcome to come along."

She added: "We couldn't have gathered so many fabulous frocks without the help of local businesses who kindly acted as donation drop off points.

"I would like to thank the staff of Starbucks - The Prom Cheltenham, O'Hara's Coffee House, The Hive, BPE Solicitors, Glos.Info, Ella Hair and the Cotswold Baby and Toddler Show."

Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Support Network offers information and support about breastfeeding to mums and mums-to-be.

The organisation receives no Government funding and yet runs seven weekly drop in sessions across the county providing judgement free support and help for mums with questions about breastfeeding.

Lucy de Mello, volunteer trustee for fundraising at the charity said: "We are really excited about this event and grateful to Anna for all the hard work she is putting in to raise money to fund the work that we do. GBSN needs £30,000 every year to run our support sessions.

"We wouldn't be able to continue without the support of fundraising like this."

A previous event raised by Anna in 2012 (201Dresses) raised more than £2,300 selling dresses in aid of a variety of Gloucestershire charities.

To find out more about the event, due to take place on Sunday, May 20, email Anna on 401dresses@gmail.com or join the event on Facebook , Twitter (@401dresses ) and Instagram  - search '401 dresses'.
