A family-run Gloucestershire builders' merchants has defied the pandemic to continue its growth plans by opening a new branch.

The George Bence Group has created its sixth branch with a new plumbing and heating branch at Cheltenham's Kingsditch Trading Estate.
Managing director Paul Bence said: 'Our industry has been very fortunate to have been able to continue trading through this extremely difficult phase for families and business.
"Our company has remained open through the entire period, maintaining employment and service levels to our established client base.
"We now feel that it is the time to take opportunities in the marketplace, further increasing our product ranges, branch network and services to our region."
The new branch is creating four new jobs to add to Bence's existing 130 staff.
"The new branch focuses purely on the plumbing and heating segment with bathroom displays for trade and retail due to its prime location," he said.

"We are extremely proud that we have managed to maintain and increase employment in our local area alongside providing an improved service to the community.
"We believe that with large stock levels, same day delivery service, experienced and knowledgeable staff specific to the plumbing sector, alongside a prime location, that we are best placed to serve the local market for this specific sector category."
He said the company, which was founded in Cheltenham in 1854, hoped to announce another new branch later in the year.
