Former roofer appointed as new director by Persimmon Homes

Persimmon Homes has appointed a new regional production director for Wales and the South West.

Andy Hill joins the housebuilder from Tilia Homes (formerly Kier Living) where he served as a regional construction and SHEA director.

He will help drive forward the company which is a prominent house builder in Gloucestershire with developments in Tuffley, Lydney, Cheltenham and Berkeley.

Mr Hill, who started out in the industry as a roofing apprentice at 16, said he was attracted to the construction-related focus of the role.

He said: "It will allow for strategic thinking and a targeted focus on the most enjoyable part of the industry - building new homes our customers can rely on and at a price they can afford.

"I'm looking forward to working with the regional chairman and the six managing directors across Wales and the South West region to ensure we maintain our upward trajectory and deliver improvements, where possible, in our operational delivery."

He will oversee the production operations of the six regional businesses that form Persimmon's Wales and South West Division- providing strategic support and guidance for construction, health, safety and environment activities, from Pembrokeshire to Truro.

He will also be responsible for driving construction performance against build targets, quality targets, and implementation of group policies and procedures.

During his 25 years in the industry, he has worked his way up through roles in site management at McLean Homes and site manager at Westbury Homes, subsequently acquired by Persimmon in 2006.

He has project managed PFI hospitals, MOD projects and major new-build prisons and worked for Barratt Homes, Countryside and Kier Living in senior construction leadership roles.

He said of joining Persimmon: "Over the past couple of years, the company at a group, divisional and regional level has made huge strides forward, which as well as attracting me to the business, has been shown in its recent five-star HBF quality rating."

Liam Scott, chairman for Wales and the South West at Persimmon, said: "Andy has significant experience working for major housebuilders, and to attract someone of his calibre to Persimmon is a real coup for the business.

"Our regional teams across Wales and the South West will benefit from his expertise and guidance, as we look to build on the vast improvements we have made across the division in recent years.

"This appointment will serve to strengthen our consistent construction of good quality and affordable homes for local people, and our delivery of a positive legacy in the local communities where we build."
