Former forklift driver turned Stonehouse site manager climbing the ranks at Vistry

An ambitious former forklift driver, with impressive family rugby connections, has spoken of his pride over the new-build location he site manages - and where show homes are soon to launch.

Sean Goode, based at Linden Homes' Great Oldbury location, near Stonehouse in Gloucestershire, said after four months of work at the development, homes were beginning to take shape thanks to a close-knit build team and putting quality at the forefront of their work.

Linden Homes, part of Vistry Group, will unveil three show homes - a three-bedroom Becket, three-bedroom Elmslie and four-bedroom Mylne - in the coming months.

A total of 178 properties will be built on the site, including 53 affordable homes.

Sean, who has ambitions to progress to project manager and then area build manager, started at Great Oldbury earlier this year after joining Vistry in January.

He entered the industry aged 26 and before that, helped at his dad's electrical company.

The former rugby player, who keeps fit by taking part in triathlons, said: "Quality is at the forefront of what we do at Great Oldbury and we're very confident we can deliver to the highest standards. I've worked with a lot of the groundworkers and bricklayers here before, so we've got a good bond. We think about the customer in everything we do and we're proud of the work we've done here so far.

"I was at a previous housebuilder for 11-and-a-half years. With Vistry you get a lot more support, a great relationship between colleagues, and office and site. Any queries you have are answered straight away and my line manager is always there to support me.

"I'm hoping for a long career with Vistry, to climb the ladder even further - to project manager and higher, and I'm just looking forward to proving what I can do. As a manager you need to know everything about the materials and the build programme, plus health and safety - you've really got to be at your best. To be a good member of the build team, it's all about being enthusiastic, punctual, a good communicator with others, and a hard worker.

"My father owns an electrical company and has always been involved with construction. I used to give him a helping hand and decided I wanted to go into management. I've always been involved in the housebuilding industry. I started off as a forklift driver, then finisher foreman, then became an assistant site manager, now I'm site manager. I've always wanted to climb the ladder and was always willing to get stuck in to get where I wanted to."

Nicola Goldsmith, sales and marketing director in the Cotswolds region, said: "We are thrilled to be launching three show homes at Great Oldbury this summer. This fantastic new development will offer wonderful opportunities for Gloucestershire house hunters whether they be first-time buyers, second steppers, looking to upsize or seeking to downsize.

"Great Oldbury is set to be an excellent community with fantastic facilities available for those who live there, and we look forward to sharing more details with our customers about the Linden Homes that will be available."

The site is located to the west of Stonehouse, close to Junction 13 of the M5 motorway, offering excellent commuter links. To register your interest, visit www.lindenhomes.co.uk.
