A 40-bed, purpose-built Mitcheldean care home been put up for sale following its closure last year.
Previously home to 30 residents and 57 staff, care facility Townsend House is being sold off by property consultants Alder King on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council.
According to the council, prior to its closure the site was running with less than 80 per cent occupancy, which means they were not making enough money to cover costs.
Townsend House dates back to the 1960s and when in operation provided residential, nursing and respite care for the elderly.
A statement from the council at the time of closure said: "Since then care in the county has changed significantly with more people choosing to live at home or individuals having more complex needs that the care homes were not designed to cater for.
"This home has been significantly impacted by these changes."
Located within walking distance of Mitcheldean town centre and close to Vantage Point Business Village., Townsend House has been given a guide price of £500,000.
The sale documents suggest that the 14,580 square foot property could have 'alternative use or residential redevelopment potential subject to planning'.
