Former Cotswold school house is let to new business

A former Cotswold school house has been given a new role as a showcase for eclectic and quirky products.

KBW have let the building in the popular tourist destination of Broadway to an entrepreneurial team with a keen eye for fine art and exquisite taste in jewellery - Broadway Luxury.

Renowned for its art galleries, antique shops, museums, hotels and tea rooms, the new business is seen as a perfect fit for the ever-popular Cotswold village. Broadway Luxury offers a mix of art, sculpture (indoors and outdoors), bespoke and one-off pieces of furniture, glassware, Persian rugs, home accessories and gifts, as well as an interior design service.

Broadway Luxury has been created by David Hamilton and Andy Seger. David said: "We are looking forward to bring to the area items that would enhance a home. I live with my family in Broadway and am very pro The Cotswolds.

"The Old School House is an amazing building and gives us the space required for a luxury showroom. Thank you to Richard Knightley from KBW who was very helpful and professional to deal with."

As the name suggests, the Old School House was once a hive of activity providing schooling to the local community. The building is believed to have been built in the mid 1800's and is recognised as a Grade II listed building, with many fine features including that of a block which projects forward on cast iron brackets. The inscription above the gabled porch reads St Michael's Church School.

Today, this historic building fronts onto the main thoroughfare which offers a broad range of shopping facilities. Nearby occupiers include Landmark, OKA, Cotswold Collections, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, The Lygon Arms Hotel and Broadway Museum.

Richard Knightley, senior director and chartered surveyor at KBW said: "We quickly concluded the letting of what is a perfect example of Cotswold stone construction, offering not only plenty of history and character, but very usable space for the new occupiers. I'm looking forward to seeing how Andrew and David maximise their use of this great building".
