Forest of Dean District Council appoints new cabinet

Forest of Dean District Council have made their key appointments following the elections earlier this month.

The council, which is under no overall control, met to appoint a chairman, vice chairman, committee chairs as well as a leader who then appointed new cabinet members.

Councillor Tim Gwilliam has been appointed as the leader of the council with cllrs Paul Hiett and Chris McFarling appointed as deputy leaders.

Cllr James Bevan has been appointed as chairman, with Cllr Clive Elsmore vice chairman.

The appointments are as follows:

Chairman: Cllr James Bevan
Vice Chairman: Cllr Clive Elsmore

Chairman of Audit Committee: Cllr Clive Elsmore
Chairman of Licensing Committee: Cllr Maria Edwards
Chairman of Planning Committee: Cllr Philip Burford
Chairman of Strategic Overview and Scrutiny Committee: Cllr Simon Phelps

In addition, following his appointment as leader.

Leader of the Council: Councillor Tim Gwilliam
Cabinet Member for Policy and Strategy, Cross Border Issues, Future Generations, Health and Wellbeing

Deputy Leader of the Council: Councillor Paul Hiett
Cabinet Member for Governance Sport and Leisure, Tourism and The Arts, Communities inc Community Safety

Deputy Leader of the Council: Councillor Chris McFarling
Cabinet Member for Governance, Planning Policy, Performance and Shared Working and Climate Emergency

Councillor Richard Leppington
Cabinet Member for Development, Asset Management, FEP and Infrastructure

Councillor Di Martin
Cabinet Member for Housing and Town and Parish Councils, inc Town Centre Development

Councillor Bernie O Niell
Cabinet Member for Finance, Business Support and Jobs
