Forest of Dean commuter route to close for resurfacing

County council highways crews will soon begin road improvement work on the A4151 through Littledean with partial day-time road closures.

To help minimise inconvenience, the resurfacing work will be carried out in two phases.

Elton Road and Church Street will be closed from Monday 10 to Friday 21 December from 9am - 3pm (excluding weekends).

Broad Street and New Road will be closed from Monday 7 to Monday 21 January 2019 from 9am - 3pm (excluding weekends).

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "These essential improvements will improve several sections of the A4151 through Littledean, making sure our road network is as efficient and safe for all road users as possible. I'd like to reassure residents that we will keep disruption to a minimum and thank them for bearing with us."

What's the diversion route? (suitable for heavies)

From the west of the closure, follow the diversion along the St White's Road, Valley road, Forest Vale Road and Broadmoor Road onto A4151 and turn left in direction of the A4136. At the junction follow A4136 via Plump Hill, Mitcheldean and Longhope. At the junction with the A40 turn right and take the A40 in the direction of Gloucester. At the Higham Court roundabout take the second exit and follow the A48 to the junction with the A4151 (Elton Corner), then turn right and follow the road to the closure point. Diversion is the same in reverse.
