Forest Green score in top football game

Forest Green Rovers players have become the first outside of Europe's top divisions to be face captured for FIFA 18 - the bestselling football game on the planet.

EA SPORTS selected FGR for the experience to celebrate the club winning promotion to the Football League for the first time in its 128 year history.

Every player will go through the face capture to ensure they look as realistic as possible in EA SPORTS FIFA 18, which will be released on September 29.

The club will have special edition copies of the game available with FGR covers for both Playstation 4 and Xbox One from the release date.

The first player scanned was Christian Doidge, who said: "It's incredible - obviously it's the first time FGR have been on FIFA, so for them to put that amount of detail into it is absolutely unbelievable. The guys are saying that we're the first team outside of the top divisions to have it done so it's a good feeling and the boys will be really excited."

Head of Communications, Electronic Arts UK, Shaun White, said: "The Forest Green Rovers story is remarkable and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with them. Having won promotion to the Football League, we wanted to celebrate their debut appearance in FIFA 18 by bringing our face-capture technology to The New Lawn Stadium and allowing them to go through the same process as cover star, Cristiano Ronaldo, and all the top players from the biggest leagues around the world."
