Jumping out of a pile of 600 CVs, New Zealander Marcus Reynolds has been selected to be the new chief executive officer for League One Gloucestershire team Forest Green Rovers.
His appointment replaces Henry Staelens, who left the post in January after a five-year tenure.
Marcus, who studied management at Waikato University in Hamilton, New Zealand, will take the executive role at the Nailsworth-based club on June 1st. The club says he brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for top sporting organisations down under.
Dale Vince, club chairman, said: "It was a long process, but we think we've found an ideal combination of experience and character. Marcus has a great background and focus in all the key areas that we're looking for and I'm really looking forward to him getting started."
Past roles for the newcomer include being a Senior Advisor at Sport New Zealand, Regional CEO with New Zealand Rugby League and CEO at ASB Classic and Tennis Auckland.
Marcus added: "I am humbled. This is a unique club that makes a genuine difference on and off the pitch, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead and can't wait to get involved.
"Most of all I'm looking forward to meeting the staff, fans, partners and wider community, as well as providing the support our team need to perform at their highest level."
With opportunities for recovery dissipating, FGR continues to trail at the bottom of League 1, its next fixture being a home game at Nailsworth's Bolt New Lawn against table-toppers Sheffield Wednesday, at 1.00pm this Sunday.
