Fire crews tackle blaze at skip depot

Fire crews spent several hours dealing with a blaze at a Gloucester skip depot on Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 3.45pm at Allstone Speedy Skips, on Myers Road.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 3.45pm to smoke issuing from an industrial property in Myers Road, Gloucester.

"Two engines, from Gloucester North and Stroud, attended the scene alongside a water carrier and an aerial unit. Four hose reels and eight breathing apparatus were used to fight the fire. The stop message was received at 8.36pm."

Simon Ford, managing director of Allstone Speedy Skips, said this morning: "There's an awful lot to sort out but we are up and running and it's business as usual. We are all OK. No one has been hurt."
