Final line-up revealed for Local Business Charity Awards

The finalists have been announced in the 2018 Gloucestershire Local Business Charity Awards, sponsored by insurance broker Jelf and insurer Ageas.

There were three awards to enter, the Jelf Award, for charities with an income of over £200,000 a year, the Ageas Award for charities with an income of under £200,000 a year and the Individual Award.

To enter, charities had to nominate a Gloucestershire business or individual, who had done an outstanding job supporting them. If their nominated business wins, the charity will receive a donation of £1,000. The winner of the Individual award will receive a weekend break to the value of £300.

Commenting on the finalists Phil Barton, Chief Executive Officer of Jelf said,

''As the founding sponsor of these awards in 2014, we have read many, many entries and I can honestly say this has been a truly extraordinary year. We've had more entries than ever before, due in part to the success of the new 'Support A Local Charity' campaign, which matches businesses and charities in the county. This means the standard has been incredibly high. Along with my fellow judges, the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Dame Janet Trotter DBE, MP for Cheltenham, Alex Chalk, Head of Commercial Underwriting and Operations at Ageas, Cathy Taylor, Digital Content Editor of Gloucestershire Live, Sophie Flowers and Chair of GFirst LEP, Dr Diane Savory OBE DL, we considered each and every entry very carefully and decided on the finalists'.

'We salute all of you who were nominated but did not make it through to the finals; your hard work, dedication and commitment has not gone unnoticed. We thank you for your efforts and hope you will display your nomination certificates with pride. To the finalists, many congratulations and we look forward to seeing you at the finals in September.'

The finals will be held at the National Star College, Ullenwood, on Thursday 6 September at 7pm. The event will be catered for by the chefs at the Star Bistro under the theme of 'The Best of Gloucestershire', using only locally-grown and produced foods and drinks, to reflect the very best of flavours in the county.

The event will be hosted by Ben Atkinson, breakfast presenter on Heart FM in Swindon.

Although nominations for the awards are now closed, charities and businesses may continue to list themselves on the free 'Support A Local Charity' page, which aims to match up businesses and charities in Gloucestershire in a skills and need swap.
