It's the final count down to roundabout revamp
18th August 2017
The year-long scheme to improve Gloucester's Elmbridge Court roundabout is reaching its final stage.
But drivers are warned of further delays while the £14.5 million project is completed over the next month.
Crews will be working through the night resurfacing the whole roundabout from next week and drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys.
From Monday 21 August to Thursday 24 August, the roundabout will remain open during peak hours, but will reduce to a single lane on Cheltenham Road East and West in the evenings so the work can be carried out safely.
There will be full closures in place on the A40 Golden Valley route east and westbound, the A40 Northern Bypass north and southbound and the A417 Barnwood Link north and southbound, between 8pm and 5am.
A signposted diversion will be in place, which uses a combination of Tewkesbury Rd, Estcourt Road, Barnwood Road, Corinium Avenue, A417, M5, A40 and Cheltenham Road.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "The much needed improvements to the Elmbridge roundabout is almost complete. Over the next four weeks drivers should expect delays, but I'd ask them to remain patient with us.
"This roundabout is one of the most used in our county and the project to improve it was vital. We're getting close to the finish line now, and we're approaching it on time and within budget."
