Favourite pizzeria takes a slice of new shopping centre

Fat Toni's, the award-winning takeaway pizzeria, is relocating its Stroud operation.

Fans need not worry, the popular pizza takeaway company is not moving far.

A multi-million pound refit and refurbishment of the town's Merrywalks Centre means Fat Toni's can move into a new 1,314 sq ft premises.

Darren Orsi, from Fat Toni's, said: "We are delighted to be announcing this move to a new and much larger unit here in Stroud. We have a fantastic customer base here in the town and it's great to be able to extend our offer and grow the business in this new location."

Fat Toni's opened in Stroud in 2012, and its team will start work on their new unit this month with plans for an opening early in the summer.

Its new outlet is near to the main entrance of The Vue Cinema at the Merrywalks Centre, which is also being rebranded as Five Valleys.

James Shepherd, estates director at Dransfield Properties, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Fat Toni's to the centre, they are a great local company with some exciting plans to expand their offer here in Stroud at the new Five Valley's Shopping Centre."

Yorkshire based retail property specialists Dransfield Properties Ltd is working on the major phased transformation of the Stroud shopping centre, which also involves investment from GFirst LEP - the county's local enterprise partnership.

The latest phase of work will be completed in May and will create a new entrance from King Street as well as major improvements to the shop fronts.

The next phase of work will get started later in the spring and will see the development team focussing on the malls and the exterior of the multi-story car park - work to transform the interior of the car park has already been completed.
