Fatal accident brings Gloucestershire roads to standstill

A fatal accident brought traffic to a stand-still in and out of Gloucester and Cheltenham this morning as commuters battled in its wake.

Police confirmed a man died after a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a VW Golf car on the A417 Crickley Hill

The crash closed the Brockworth Bypass from the Air Balloon roundabout to the Brockworth Bypass.

The accident happened on the notorious A417 at Crickley Hill, Birdlip, just before 4am.

Police said a 20-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.
