Fast food chain launches franchise model

Coffee and breakfast chain, Tim Hortons, has announced the launch of a new UK franchise model.

The Canadian business, which has a drive-thru in Gloucester, is planning a big expansion of its UK estate, with the franchise model set to play a big part, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Tim Hortons currently has 77 restaurants across the UK. Franchising will help accelerate its expansion into new towns and cities nationwide.

The business launched in the UK in 2017, with a store in Glasgow.

It has spent five years carrying out a test and learn phase, as it looks to open both drive-thrus and high street restaurants.

Applications to become a franchisee are open now on the Tim Hortons website. The business is looking for applicants who have 'a proven record of delivering brand standards, delighting customers and driving commercial growth'.

Applicants must also have minimum financial resources of £1.25m (50% liquid assets), with the ability to secure further financing.
