Fancy owning an idyllic Cotswold pub? Now is your chance

A picturesque 17th century inn which was voted Best Restaurant in The Cotswolds in 2010 and 2011, is on the market for offers over £600,000 for the freehold.

Complete with inglenook fireplace, old photos, rustic bar and beamed ceilings, The Crown Inn at Church Enstone is situated just off the A44 midway between Blenheim Palace and the old market town of Chipping Norton.

Peter Brunt, a director in Colliers International's hotels team said: "If your wish list includes log fires in the inglenook, old photos on the walls, rustic bar and beamed ceilings the Crown Inn certainly ticks all the boxes.

"Cosy and welcoming to locals and visitors alike, the Crown has a cottage garden which is ideal for sunny days and evenings and a terrace which looks out onto the honey coloured village of thatched stone cottages."

The Crown boasts around 60 covers in three characterful rooms, and four-bedroom accommodation for resident owners. Historic Blenheim Palace is around six miles away, and the popular centres of Witney, Banbury, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within easy driving distance.

Although operating from a sound business base, Peter Brunt believes the pub has plenty of potential to improve in the hands of enthusiastic new owners - perhaps by reinstating some or all of the former letting rooms to capitalise on the lovely location.

He said: "Our clients bought the business in 2003. Over the 15 years of their ownership they have found the business to be a reliable performer for a hands-on couple.

"They incorporated the four former letting bedrooms to create spacious accommodation for their family. This could be continued of course, or the space reconverted to give an additional income stream, something that this excellent location could easily sustain.

"Enjoying the area so much, in the last few months they have moved into a nearby house in readiness for this planned sale and they intend to retire from the business."
