Nightclub redevelopment could be on the cards

A once popular Gloucester nightclub and pub could soon be redeveloped into 25 flats.

Once part of the Places Trading empire, The Famous Pint Pot pub and adjoining Registry and Elevation nightclub could be edging nearer to redevelopment.

After winning planning permission at the end of last year to convert the two-story buildings into off Bruton Way into 23 one-bedroom and two two-bedroom residential apartments there has been no activity on site.

Planning was subject to conditions, and a new application has now been submitted which could help clear the way for the Bristol Road based Chibroco Ltd, the firm behind the proposed project.

Plans now with the city council are for the "discharge of conditions" for cycle storage, drainage and refuse storage.

"The premises has been trading for a number of years as a nightclub but the current owners wish to cease this trade and sell the premises," said a statement to planners from Chibroco Ltd.

"The premises have been marketed over an extensive period of time without success."

Developers said the flats would be attractive to first-time buyers, particularly single people with limited finances.

The apartments will be situated on both ground and first floor levels, with ground floor apartments being fully accessible to wheelchair users.

The existing large basement area will be used to provide a communal cycle storage facility as well as additional storage for the apartments.

The redevelopment site is well connected to the city centre including the adjacent leisure centre, Asda supermarket to the east and numerous bars and restaurants.
