Experts ready to help farmers stay ahead of the game

Big issues facing the farming industry are set to be discussed at an annual event hosted by agronomy specialists from Gloucestershire.

Agrii, based in Andoversford, is one of the driving forces behind the iFarm event that takes place in Leominster next Monday.

New attractions this year include a focus on forage and livestock, which will include demonstrations and talks throughout the day.

Agrii agronomy team manager Paul Doyle said: "Our customers are facing some big issues on farm over the next few years, with the loss of key crop protection chemistry, growing resistance problems and the big unknown of the looming Brexit negotiations.

"Whilst none of us have all the answers at this point, we have a good understanding of the best cropping and agronomic solutions for next season and our iFarm day on 26 June is an opportunity for local growers to firm up their plans.

"What is becoming clear from our trials work is that agronomic issues and opportunities should not be viewed in isolation.

"All of the different yield affecting factors and the strategies used to control or mitigate them, should be regarded as part of an integrated approach to managing your crops from start to finish.

"Using a combination of trials guidance, the correct variety, local interpretation, effective planning, accurate timings and application and clever products can help you stay ahead of the game."
