Expansion given the go ahead for Gloucestershire business park

Owners of a Gloucestershire business park have gained permission to build additional units on the site.
Land earmarked for the project sits within the Rigestate Industrial Estate, adjacent to Station Road north of Berkeley.
The scheme will see the construction of an additional steel portal frame building, to provide two commercial units for general industrial and storage and distribution uses covering 372 square metres.
Design of the new units will be consistent with those currently on the site and access to the expansion will remain via the existing entrance from Station Road.
A planning statement for the approved development said: "A substantial amount of new residential development has been granted planning permission within close proximity to the site and as such the provision of two further units will provide suitable accommodation for new businesses wishing to establish locally.
"Given the size and location of the proposed units it is not anticipated that the development will generate a large increase in traffic numbers to and from the site."
Existing tenants on the site include Berkeley Fabrication and Welding Ltd, Alderley materils Ltd , Hurst Commercial Vehicle Services Ltd, Mobex Ltd and Rigicoat Contracting Ltd.
The statement adds that 'parking provision is provided as part of the development and is located to the south of the proposed building'.
It is not clear how many jobs the development could create, however the plans suggest that the new units will prove attractive to small starter businesses within the local area.
The application was approved yesterday, April 16 by Stroud District Council.
