Exclusive walkthrough of new city homes development

Work is progressing well on the new £14.6 million homes project in the heart of the Gloucester.

The developers, Rooftop Housing Group, are harnessing the power of Augmented Reality to give families the chance to see what it would be like living in the development off the city's Black Dog Way and Northgate Street.

Passers-by can simply download the Zappar App to their mobile device, they can then hold the device up in front of the special hoardings around the site and look around a 360-degree rendering of typical homes.

John Rockley, Rooftop Housing Group's Head of Communications and Marketing said "It's really exciting that people can look inside the building, even before it's finished. It's a great facility and really gives a great sense of what the homes will be like."

After being derelict for more than a decade, work began to redevelop the old Kwik Save site in mid-2017. The project involves the construction of 95 affordable homes, including 60 of affordable rent, 21 shared ownership apartments and 14 flats for vulnerable people with learning difficulties.

Punchline was given a tour of the impressive new development on the former Kwik Save supermarket site back in April and you can watch it here.

United Living, contractors for Rooftop Housing are leading the development and plan to finish the project later this year.

The affordable one and two-bedroom apartments are available for rent and shared ownership from early 2019.
