EXCLUSIVE: Man who died after being run over by a tractor named

A man who died when he was run over by a tractor has been named.

Neil Priday lost his life after the accident near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, on August 9.

The 55-year-old of Marlbank Road, Welland, near Malvern in Worcestershire, perished after the tragic incident in Monks Lane, Fiddington.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Coroner's Service confirmed that an inquest into Mr Priday's death had been opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed.

He said: "Late on the evening of August 9, at about 11.15pm, police received reports of some intoxicated males driving a tractor. It went onto a public road, crashed into hedges and fences and at some point, the male passenger, Mr Priday, was ejected from the tractor.

"He sustained fatal injuries as a result of that."

The spokesman said the cause of death was a head injury as a result of a collision with a tractor.

He added that paramedics tried to save Mr Priday at the scene of the accident but that he was formally declared dead at 12.10am on August 10.

Gloucestershire Constabulary has previously said that a man in his 20s, believed to have been driving the tractor, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol.

He has been released under investigation.

The accident happened in a country lane in the parish of Ashchurch, close to where Severn Vale Vintage Club's annual show - featuring old vehicles including tractors - had taken place earlier on August 9.

Police said their officers and members of the public gave Mr Priday first aid before paramedics arrived to treat him, but he could not be saved.

Due to the incident, the show's organisers stopped it from continuing into a second day.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to the police, is asked to contact them on 101, quoting incident 591 of August 9.
