Everyman panto raises £20,000 for community projects

Theatre-goers from across the region have helped provide much-needed assistance for two Gloucestershire charities.

The Everyman Theatre's 2022 pantomime, Dick Whittington and His Cat Tweedy, joined forces with charitable partners St James City Farm & Riding School and Scrubditch Care Farm, to raise awareness of their community and outreach work and provide support for their upcoming projects.

The fundraising campaign has been supported by Gloucestershire favourite Tweedy, along with the whole panto cast and Everyman Theatre team.

Activities to raise the vital funds included a Dick Whittington-themed sponsored walk from Pauntley Court to (Little) London, as well as bucket collections from cast-members at pantomime performances.

All of the money raised will go towards helping vulnerable children and adults throughout Gloucestershire.

Mark Goucher, CEO of The Everyman Theatre, said: "The Everyman Theatre 2022 panto charity fundraising supported two Gloucestershire charities whose combined work covers much of the county, with diverse community-based programmes.

"We smashed through the target of £20,000 and we would like to thank the generosity and kindness of everyone who came to see Dick Whittington and His Cat Tweedy."

Details of the Everyman Theatre's 2023 pantomime charity partner will be announced later in the year. This year's pantomime will tell the story of Mother Goose, featuring Tweedy in the titular dame-role. Tickets for these performances are on sale now.
