Ethical gifting company branches out into the business market

A Cheltenham company which started out by delivering wrapped Christmas stockings to time-poor parents, is branching out into the business market in time for Christmas.

Box Tree, which has just opened up in new premises in Royal Crescent, is an eco luxury gift delivery company, delivering gifts all over the world.

The new business service allows companies to deliver gifts to staff or clients anywhere in the world. While most firms order around 30 or 40 gifts at a time, Box Tree has just had an order from one company for 950 gifts. In the last month, it has provided gifts for big name companies like Kellogg's and Warner Brothers.

Laura Crabb, who founded Box Tree three years ago, said: "We only stock products that give back to good causes or protect the planet. For every gift we deliver, a charity is getting a donation or a tree will be planted. We put a lot of thought into what we sell - we champion new brands, small brands and British brands.

"People use us for special occasions - birthdays and babies and when they can't be with family and friends. It's even more important at the moment, when people can't go to events or celebrations. We've seen massive growth during lockdown. It's been really useful to people - it's 'I've been thinking about you', 'I'm sending a hug in a box', and 'I wish I could be there'. We hand write the messages on all of our gifts - it can get quite emotional!"

This year, Box Tree is on course to hit turnover of £500,000 - a tenfold increase on last year. At the start of 2020, the company employed three people. Thanks to its huge growth during lockdown, it now employs 12, and has moved into larger premises.

Laura is keen to support any small businesses in Gloucestershire who may have products which could work for them. And if any local businesses want to put together a gift for their staff or clients, they can go into the office to discuss their requirements.

"Although we do most of our business online, we've now got loads of space and people can come in and see what we do. It is great being right in the town centre, surrounded by all the retail outlets."

Box Tree has just launched its Christmas catalogue for business gifting, which is available on this flip book .
