Electrical contractor shares experience of tackling skills shortage in housebuilding
26th February 2018
Staff at a Gloucester-based company have been asked to share their knowledge and experience of addressing the skills shortage in the housebuilding industry.
Staff from Clarkson Evans will take part in a programme of national seminars being organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), where experts share best practice and present the latest technical updates in housebuilding.
This year's seminar programme will focus on 'Future skills, Future standards, Future quality', acknowledging the skills shortage in the industry.
Clarkson Evans has a tried and tested formula for recruiting apprentice electricians and will be sharing the company's experience with delegates attending the programme, starting in Taunton on 27th February.
Lindsey Young, chief operating officer at Clarkson Evans, said: "The skills shortage in the construction industry has been well-documented nationally and, whilst we do not profess to have all the answers, our highly successful apprenticeship programme is testament to what we have achieved in this arena.
"We will also be showcasing our quality control processes and explaining how investing in staff training and development is vital to maintaining standards on site."
Lindsey will be presenting alongside Simon Kingwell, production director at the company. They will be speaking at a total of seven seminars nationwide, and hope that their involvement will not only help to raise standards in the industry, but also inspire other businesses to follow their lead in apprenticeship training.
