EG Carter & Co Ltd celebrate massive contract win

A Gloucester construction company has been appointed to help build hundreds of new homes as part of a £1.5billion scheme.

EG Carter & Co Ltd, based in Gloucester, has been chosen by housing association Aster Group as one of two partners in a five-year programme to deliver up to 500 new homes per year.

The contract is part of Aster Group's wider plans to invest £1.5billion in new homes between now and 2024, which includes an intention to deliver 1,100 properties during the next two years.

Manager in Partnership Housing at E G Carter & Co Ltd Mat Vye said: "We are delighted to have been selected by Aster to work collaboratively in developing new homes throughout the South of England under the contractor framework agreement."

The scheme will involve a mix of open market sales, shared ownership, affordable and social rented housing and it will focus on land led areas where development is the most acceptable.

Assistant director of technical and construction at Aster Group Tony Clifford said: "We are increasing the number of homes we build every year and our footprint continues to expand across the south of England.

"We have recognised that by working closely with the right number of contractors who share our vision, we can build strong long-term partnerships that will support Aster in delivering more land-led opportunities over the coming years."
