eBay launches luxury goods service

eBay has launched a new luxury goods consignment service in the UK.

The service gives users direct access to expert sellers who will list and sell their items for them.

The online giant has teamed up with Luxe Collective, which is experienced in selling second-hand luxury products, to power the service, as reported by Retail Gazette.

The service is initially launching for designer handbags, with sellers able to list bags from luxury brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermès.

In the US, where the service has already launched, eBay said goods are selling for significantly higher prices than they would if listed on the site in the normal way.

eBay said the process is seamless, with Luxe Collective handling everything from photography to pricing, once the item has been received.

Items sold in this way will have eBay's authenticity guarantee to verify the luxury good as genuine.
