eBay drops selling fees

eBay UK is getting rid of selling fees for private sellers.

It scrapped selling fees for clothes earlier this year, now it is cutting them across all categories, apart from motors, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Th move is an attempt to compete with rivals Vinted and Depop and means private sellers on eBay will no longer have to pay regulatory operating fees or final value fees.

Scrapping the selling fees on clothing in April led to a double-digit rise in listings for clothes on the platform.

eBay has also introduced other changes, including simplified selling, where shoppers can list items in minutes, using AI-generated descriptions and photo-enhancing tools, along with guidance about the best pricing and delivery options.

Simple delivery is also being introduced, offering tracked and fully covered delivery, prepaid by the buyer.

Another new feature is eBay Local, which allows customers to find items locally to collect in person.
