Dursley care home community expansion creating new jobs

A care community in Dursley has doubled in size over the last year, following the opening of a specialist dementia care facility.

The Hollies and Holly Oak dementia care facility, which opened in January 2021, provide nursing, dementia and residential care, in a beautiful park setting overlooking Dursley.

The expansion has created a range of new jobs, including nurses and carers, hospitality roles such as kitchen staff and housekeeping roles, including laundry and cleaning staff. There will also be a need for staff including hairdressers.

Jonathan Hawkins, director of the family-run company, said: "We are the largest employer in the area and, with this expansion, we can grow our fantastic team who keep our residents safe, entertained and stimulated every day. Our aim is to continue to provide the best nursing care in the region."

Kaye Hawkins, commercial director, said: "Within our organisation, we are passionate about our residents, and we care about our staff. That means great career development, working for an expanding organisation.

"We invest virtually every penny we make in the people who live in our homes and the people who work here too. This means better quality care and lovely homes for our residents, along with competitive wages and great training and development for our people, as well as generous benefits."

Apartments by the Hollies provide independent living accommodation, with support services available when residents come to need them.

The care home community also has a wide range of supplementary facilities, with hospitality the key to bringing residents, families and friends together. The community includes both a tearoom and a pub, as well as a hair and beauty salon, providing pampering and a morale boost for residents.
