Double murder investigation: Police given more time to question man

Gloucestershire police have been granted a 30-hour magistrates' extension to continue questioning a 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a mother and daughter in Gloucester.

Businesswoman Laura Mortimer, 31, and her daughter, Ella Dalby, 11, were discovered at an address in Dexter Way on Bank Holiday Monday.

Detectives now have until tomorrow morning (Thursday 31 May) to question the arrested man in connection with the deaths of Laura and Ella.

Police were called to the victims' address in Dexter Way, Gloucester at 4.50am on Monday, 28 May. Laura and Ella were declared dead a short time later and a double murder investigation was launched.

Laura ran a wedding planning business and many tributes have been made to both her and her daughter.

Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is still urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 73 of 28 May.
