Stroud-based community youthworker Isak Sandgren-Clarke is no stranger to a challenge.

Back in 2021 he took on a 20-hour gaming marathon live on YouTube. Four years on and it's time for a change of scene, leaving the screen behind and getting out into the countryside.

Door2Door, a 60-mile sponsored hike, aims to draw attention not only to the benefits that walking and being outdoors can have on our mental health but also to celebrate and champion those in the local community who care for those around them. Specifically, The Door Youth Project (where Isak works) and organisations that work alongside them.

Throughout the 60-mile route, including sections of the beautiful Cotswold Way, Isak will be visiting as many of The Door's youth clubs and communities as possible - starting in Lechlade on to Fairford and dropping into Cirencester before heading back towards Stroud, Stonehouse, Cam and Dursley by the end of day two.

Across the two days - Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 - Isak will be joined by other members of The Door team, young people from The Door's youth clubs and some special guests. You are invited to join in too!

Whether walking the whole distance or part of it, participants should be aged 16 years or older (or be accompanied by an adult), be able to transport themselves to their chosen start and finish points, have appropriate clothing and equipment and be confident in their health and ability to complete their chosen distance.

Isak said: "The Door's work across the Stroud district and South Cotswolds is providing young people aged 11-25 and their families with vital safe spaces, positive role models and access to deeper emotional support.

"As a nation we are living in complex and volatile times and young people especially are struggling with their mental health. 

"The Door is pleased to be able to bring over 30 years' experience in working with young people to be able to offer them the bespoke, needs-led support that they need to take positive steps forward and find new hope for a brighter future."
