Doomed Stroud bank shuts early - because of Covid

Barclays bank customers in Stroud, expecting the local branch to close at the end of the week, were surprised to find it already shut.

A sign revealed that the branch in King Street was closed 'due to unforeseen circumstances' but added that the closure was only temporary!

The branch is shutting permanently this Friday 14th January from noon.

A spokesman for Barclays explained: "We can confirm the Stroud branch was closed temporarily on Tuesday due to a Covid-19 case. As such, the branch has been thoroughly deep cleaned and we expect to reopen tomorrow as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers."

The nearest alternative branches of Barclays are in Cirencester and Gloucester.
