Main route from Stonehouse to Standish to close for three weeks

The B4008 Gloucester Road and Bath Road is being resurfaced as part of the county council's £150 million investment into Gloucestershire's roads.

Used by thousands of motorists, one of the main routes from Stonehouse to Standish is subject to heavy wear and tear.

The road upgrade will mean a quicker, smoother and altogether more pleasant journey for all road users.

To help minimise disruption, the B4008 Gloucester Road and Bath Road will be closed overnight, for three weeks, from Monday 20 January to Thursday 6 February (excluding Saturday and Sunday nights). The resurfacing will take place between 7pm to 7am to allow the road to be open during peak times.

When the road is closed a signed diversion route using roads which are suitable for all vehicles will be in place. Your highways crews will complete vital resurfacing works along 29,012m² of the road with 3,500 tonnes of material.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "The B4008 is a well used road that is nearing the end of its life so it's important we carry out this resurfacing work as part of the county council's £150 million investment.

"The work is being done overnight to help minimise the disruption. We ask road users to please bear with us while our crews carry out this essential work."
