District council leader to step down

Cllr Steve Lydon, leader of Stroud District Council, is to relinquish the role on health grounds.

The Labour member for The Stanleys is also stepping down as Labour group leader on the council, but will remain as a councillor.

Cllr Lydon took the decision following a recent bout of ill health. He has decided to cut back on his duties to focus on his health and family, as reported by The Stroud News and Journal.

Cllr Lydon has been leader of Stroud District Council since May 2016.
