Delays expected on A417 between Gloucester’s Elmbridge Court and C&G roundabouts
27th February 2018
Vital maintenance work has started this week to improve the drainage network of the A417 between Gloucester's Elmbridge Court and C&G roundabouts.
Highways crews are on site to clean the road's drainage system. Scheduled work includes cleaning the filter drain in the central reservation, as well as removing vegetation that is blocking the drains. This will allow surface water on the road to drain more effectively, improving driving conditions.
To ensure the work is completed in the safest and most efficient way, an off-peak lane closure will be in place on the southbound lane between the Elmbridge Court and C&G roundabouts. The lane will be closed from 9.30am to 3.30pm from Monday 26th February to Thursday 1st March, avoiding peak travel times.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flooding, said: "Work like this is a crucial part of our annual maintenance programme. By making sure our drains and gulleys are clear, we can help to prevent surface flooding on our roads and maintain optimal driving conditions whatever the weather."
