Debenhams pilots new local food scheme

Debenhams is trying out a new scheme that offers concession space within their shops for independent local food companies.
The pilot is being tested at three of the chain's most high profile department stores, in central Manchester, the Trafford Centre in Manchester and Oxford Street in London, as reported by Retail Gazette.
Debenhams recorded an 11 per cent rise in food sales after it added food concessions like Franco Manca, Creams and The Real Greek.
The company said its food offering serves millions of customers a year and it wants to support local businesses that can bring something new to its dining experience.
Recent food and drink pop-ups have included contemporary gin makers Manchester Gin, cupcake maker Alex's Bakery and champagne and wine specialist Frizzenti.
Debenhams' food division operates 65 concessions and 151-owned and operated restaurants.
It's not yet known whether the scheme will roll out to the company's other stores.
Punchline said: "Gloucestershire has some fantastic local food and drink producers. It would be great to see them get the opportunity to sell their products at Debenhams in Gloucester."
