County regeneration scheme on track

Construction work at a Gloucestershire regeneration scheme has reached a major milestone, as the first roof tiles were added as part of the multi-million pound project.

The development at Abbey View in Cirencester of 36 brand new, more energy efficient homes built for rent and shared ownership replaces two large blocks of flats and a number of garages, which were demolished last summer.

Bromford is behind the £5.7m Cirencester Regeneration Scheme, which is the housing association's first of several similar programmes of regeneration across the county.

Contractors E G Carter, who are leading the build programme at Abbey View, say they remain on track to complete the new development by summer 2020.

Charlie Jackson, Bromford's associate director of localities, said: "Working in partnership with companies like E G Carter through the Bromford Construction Partnership is enabling us to provide more of our customers with affordable rented homes and it is great to see the fantastic progress being made here at Paterson Road."

Mathew Vye, associate director at E G Carter & Co Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be working with Bromford to re-develop this site in Cirencester to provide much needed affordable homes to the area. We look forward to completing this site in 2020 and continuing to work collaboratively with Bromford to deliver even more new homes throughout Gloucestershire and the West of England."

Bromford has around 11,000 homes in the Gloucestershire area and worked with customers for two years before construction started to find them suitable alternative accommodation; with the option of returning to the new properties once they are built. Residents are expected to be able to start moving to the new one, two and three bed homes from next month.
