County fails to build on its success

Gloucestershire is under-represented in the top community property schemes competing for the South West's Project of the Year.
Last year, Gloucester Services took the top prize in the RICS Awards, South West, this year just three Gloucestershire projects are in the running, while multiple projects from Bristol, Swindon, Devon Cornwall have made the cut.
Leading the way for Gloucestershire is the refurbishment of the The Old Stocks Inn in Stow, which is shortlisted in both the Tourism & Leisure and Building Conservation categories. SGS Berkeley Green UTC (pictured) is shortlisted in the Community Benefit category, while Arts & Crafts House The Tile Pavilion makes the list in the Design through Innovation category.
The annual awards recognise exemplary built projects that are positively contributing to the region and this year schemes of all sizes and budgets are in with a chance of gaining acclaimed industry recognition.
Gloucestershire's projects are up against some tough competition, including Bristol's 800 bed Brunel Building, which replaced the old Southmead and Frenchay hospitals.
The RICS Awards, South West has seven categories: Building Conservation, Commercial property, Community Benefit, Design through Innovation, Regeneration, Residential and Infrastructure.
Projects shortlisted for category awards will automatically be considered for the South West Project of the Year title, presented to the scheme which demonstrates overall outstanding best practice and an exemplary commitment to adding value to its local area.
The 2018 RICS Awards, South West take place on 17th May at the Bristol Marriott City Centre.
All category winners will go on to compete against other regional winners at the national RICS Awards in November.
