Stroud District Council will be writing to every household in the district to help everyone stay safe during the lockdown period and beyond.

The second yellow letter from the council will be landing on doormats of all 53,000 homes this week, detailing how to protect yourself and others, financial assistance, health advice, and help for those who are self-isolating.

A statement from the four political leaders, Councillors Doina Cornell (council leader, Labour), Martin Whiteside (Green), Ken Tucker (Liberal Democrat) and Stephen Davies (Conservative): said: "We are in a second period of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic and a printed letter is the best way to ensure no-one is missed out, because not everyone is connected to the internet," said the four political group leaders of Stroud District Council.

"As with the last letter we sent in May, it is printed on yellow paper, so people who have impaired vision can read it more easily - this is recommended by Age Concern.

"The letter is a helpful guide to residents of the support available to them through the great work of local community Covid-19 response groups who can help if you have to self-isolate. It also complements the letter being sent nationally to every Clinically Extremely Vulnerable resident, and a letter being sent from Gloucestershire County Council to just under 25,000 CEV people in the county, approximately 5,000 of whom live in Stroud district.

"We know this is a very tough time and we are here for everyone," added the group leaders. "Overwhelmingly people have followed the lockdown rules well, and this letter is a useful reference point for supporting people to self-isolate, or if they need any other help due to the pandemic."
