Council to reveal more details of incinerator scheme

Gloucestershire County Council is to reveal more details of the controversial £500 million incinerator project.

Earlier this year the Information Commissioner's Office ruled that the county council had wrongly withheld some of the information relating to its agreement with Urbaser Balfour Beatty (UBB) to develop and run the Javelin Park incinerator next to the M5 at Haresfield.

The council had argued at the time that the information was commercially sensitive.

Opponents of the incinerator, which is due to start operating next year, have questioned whether it represents value for money.

Now the county council has taken to twitter to announce that it will publish more financial details.

The statement on social media said: "@Gloscc will publish an updated version of Javelin Park contract and value for money assessment by Christmas. With commercial risk for UBB now at an acceptable level, tribunal and FoI processes can be concluded."

It is still not clear when the updated version will be given.
