Council may increase parking charges

A district council is considering a rise in car parking charges.

Stroud District Council is reviewing charges at its 38 council run car parks, the Stroud News and Journal has reported.

It has been prompted by a cut in funding from central Government.

But, as expected, Stroud traders are rightly concerned about the negative effect increased parking charges could have on business.

The council says it will consult the public before making any changes. Stroud parking charges have not increased since 2011.
