Council launches public workspace for businesses

Cotswold District Council is offering an opportunity for local businesses and freelancers to secure affordable, centrally located office space at its recently transformed Trinity Road offices in Cirencester.

Following the shift to hybrid working, the council has freed up over 35% of its office space, paving the way for businesses to thrive while supporting environmental sustainability.

In partnership with Watermoor Point, a local office letting company, the council has created a flexible and professional workspace designed to meet the diverse needs of modern businesses.

Watermoor Point will be managing the space and welcoming new members.

This partnership will not only benefit the local business community but will also generate essential income for the council to maintain services and reduce its environmental impact.

The available spaces are built to spark productivity and collaboration. Whether you're a freelancer, remote worker, or entrepreneur, the open-plan co-working area offers a creative, professional atmosphere away from home.

Fully equipped with everything from ergonomic desks and power outlets to super-fast Wi-Fi, this is the perfect environment to supercharge your efficiency and connect with a community of like-minded professionals.

For businesses requiring more privacy, there are 19 secure office suites available, ranging from two-person to eight-person spaces. These offices are ideal for companies looking to embrace hybrid or agile working models, or local start-ups in need of flexible, affordable office solutions. Meeting room facilities are also available, offering a professional space for team meetings and client consultations.

With capacity for up to 110 people, this workspace is designed to foster networking, innovation, and collaboration. Members will also enjoy 24/7 access to the council's on-site bistro and courtyard, offering a relaxed environment for breaks or informal discussions. Convenient car parking facilities, including EV charging points, are available, ensuring ease of access for all members.

Members will benefit from secure access with separate entry points for council staff, ensuring privacy and safety for all.

Cllr Joe Harris, leader of Cotswold District Council, said: "We're thrilled to offer this vibrant co-working space for local businesses - it's an exciting opportunity to bring together innovation and community right here in Cirencester.

"With many of our staff now embracing hybrid working, our partnership with Watermoor Point not only helps reduce council costs but also takes a big step towards shrinking our carbon footprint. We can't wait to welcome local businesses into Trinity Road and watch this dynamic space thrive."

Ian Woodward-Court, director of Watermoor Point, said: "At Watermoor Point, we are excited to collaborate with Cotswold District Council in optimising the use of space at Trinity Road offices.

"Our success in attracting over 100 businesses to our first flex property on Watermoor Road, Cirencester, is proof that local SMEs are seeking flexibility over traditional, lengthy leases that often come with burdensome repair and dilapidation terms.

"Our all-inclusive, transparent pricing and seamless service allow businesses to focus on growth while we handle the property management side.

"The surge of employees returning to offices speaks to the value of in-person collaboration - those spontaneous 'water-cooler' moments help foster creativity and loyalty among teams. We look forward to welcoming more Cotswold businesses into this vibrant workspace community."
