Could you shape the future of Gloucestershire Airport?

Gloucestershire Airport is on the lookout for three non-executive directors, including a chair of the airport board.

The Shareholding Councils wish to appoint three independent specialist non-executive directors, with the appropriate skills and experience to contribute to driving the airport business forwards. Candidates will be chosen for their relevant experience related to airport operations and management, and legal, commercial or financial management, in order to improve the commercial and financial performance of the airport.

Gloucestershire Airport is the busiest airport for general aviation in the UK. It handled over 85,000 aircraft movements in 2016, of which around 1,300 were operating commercial scheduled or charter services. The airport is jointly owned by Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.

Time commitment is expected to be a minimum of two days per month, allowing for attendance at board meetings and preparation. There may be a greater initial time commitment in the early months as the new board members familiarise themselves with the airport and its operations.

Councillor Steve Jordan, leader at Cheltenham Borough Council said: ''This is an ideal opportunity for three people to use their strategic business skills to shape, champion and drive the future direction and governance of Gloucestershire Airport. One of those appointed will also take on the important role of chair of the airport board.''

Councillor David Norman MBE, cabinet member for performance and resources at Gloucester City Council, said: "As shareholders, ourselves and Cheltenham Borough Council want to make sure that Gloucestershire Airport has the right people in place to further develop its place in the local economy.

''This is an opportunity for experienced individuals to make their mark on a major local business. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to use their experience to help the airport thrive now, and into the future."

Remuneration will be £6,000 per annum for the chair and £4,000 per annum for the specialist non-executive directors. It is anticipated that appointments will be for a period of 3 years initially.

If you think you have the skills for this challenging, but rewarding role, information and an application form can be found at https://www.gloucestershireairport.co.uk/vacancies/

Deadline for applications is 1st December.
