Cotswold Canals Trust launch series of fundraising calendars

The Cotswold Canals Trust is getting into the Christmas spirit as it aims to raise funds for the vital restoration work it carries out throughout the year.

This year, the Trust have launched Santa Cruises as well as a range of cards and calendars to mark the festivities.

The range of calendars have been created using pictures from the Trust's volunteers with the profits going to the restoration of the Cotswolds' canals.

Money raised will be used to help the charity continue linking the already restored parts of the canal to the main waterways network at Saul Junction.

There are three calendars, each representing the 'naked' beauty of the canals, that are on sale for £7.95 in visitor centres or for £9.95 online.

Aimee-Louise Malcolm who is the Fundraiser-Ambassador for the Charity said "We have another four miles of canal to restore in order to link Stroud's canals to the main waterway network and we raise funds all year round.

"Every calendar bought - and Christmas cards too - helps us in our mission as well as giving the purchaser something great to look at all through 2020."

The calendars, and a range of other Christmas items are available from the Trust Visitor Centres at Wallbridge Lock in Stroud and Saul Junction.

The centres will also be where the Santa Cruises run from during December.

Christine Mauler, Volunteer Wallbridge Visitor Centre Manager said"Come and see us in one of our Visitor Centres! For that last-minute gift or those few extra cards you need, take a look at our Wallbridge (Stroud) or Saul Visitor Centres.

"There's a range of inexpensive items to tempt you - and you'll be supporting the fundraising effort to restore our canal."

The Trust are also looking for volunteers to help complete the four miles of canal.

They are looking for volunteers to help us with many of the tasks including work parties on the canal, administration, marketing or helping out in the Visitors Centres.

Anyone interested on volunteering can contact the Trust on 01453 752568.
