Stories of generosity are emerging by the day - like this one about a Cotswold business which has just handed over 100 face masks to our emergency services.

Qing Lin, chief executive officer of Cirencester-based Join in China, is no stranger to the impact of the coronavirus crisis with many family and friends weathering the pandemic in China.

Usually it is Ms Lin helping build contacts between Gloucestershire and Chinese business, and vice versa, but this time it was her contacts helping her.

Concerned for her own welfare, her family sent the biggest box of face masks it was allowed to dispatch - and Ms Lin, who is self-isolating with her family in Gloucestershire - has given them to the NHS and police.

"My parents said they wanted to help and the next thing I knew they had sent me 100 face masks. There are 20 per packet. So, I gave a packet to a friend, who is an NHS nurse, and the other 80 have gone to the police," she said.

Due to the restrictions, and that her husband, her son and herself are keeping themselves isolated, she arranged for a 'safe' drop off zone so the police could collect.

"We did have this amusing conversation, from a safe distance, when an officer came to pick them up. I am just pleased to be able to do something - albeit it a very tiny gesture," said Ms Lin.

All of which explains why Punchline has chosen Join in China and Qing Lin as its Business and Community Champion, an award backed by Gloucestershire local enterprise partnership, GFirst LEP, and the Growth Hub business network.

Its object is to shine a light on the many good deeds being done by business people to help thier community during the pandemic.
