Cotswold Airport ready for lift-off

Cotswold Airport in Kemble is planning to develop its general aviation facilities and businesses.

According to the website Flyer.co.uk it wants to attract more aircraft movements and has a five year strategy for improvements including a global position system for the approach to its 1,973m runway.

This will support the airport's corporate jet movements and facilities for large airliners who are either salvage for recyclable parts or recommissioned.

The airport is owned by Ronan Harvey and currently has helicopter training facilities, three flight schools and the AV8 restaurant.

It is estimated that Cotswold Airport creates 210 jobs and the entire site including the business park employs 550. In addition, there are another 150-350 individuals on site at any time, either working as contractors or participating in training programmes.

It is estimated that the site brings in at least £5million annually to the local area and community.

But there are no definitely no plans to turn it into the next hub for Ryanair or Easyjet.
